Hi all, turning 21 in July and enrolling in CDL school next month. Just have a question about my past record though. When I was 17, so 3.5 years ago now, I got a reckless driving for 89 in a 45 in North Carolina. Has fallen off my insurance and my insurance has dropped in price now. My question is, will this past record that is over 3 years old affect me getting a Class A job?
Thanks!
Past Driving Record at 17, will it effect my chances?

To some extent, yes. The better "new grad" companies will probably pass you over. But never fear, others will hire you. @Chinatown can speak more on this. He's the resident guru on the subject. Of course, he’ll need your location.

Feel really stupid about it and I know I’m still young but not THAT dumb anymore.. just hoping companies understand as well.

You should be OK. It's been awhile now and was in your personal vehicle so they might overlook it. If you got those points in a CMV, it could be a different story...

Do you live in North Carolina?

This company has their own cdl school and a job when you graduate. Mostly OJT with some classroom thrown in. Do about 15 California turnarounds with a trainer before you're on your own.
