If one goes straight to the Governor first they will throw it in the trash. There is a very definite process for this. One must follow it and that means exhausting "lower" avenues first. The first place to start is the court where the conviction occurred. If your conviction was in a court in Ohio and you live in Oregon and try to file it there you are wasting your time. You have to go to the court in Ohio. Once that is attempted you may indeed be able to go to the Governor's office for relief but it is more likely you will need to make one stop at the Court of Appeals for the circuit in question.

I'm glad you turned your life around for the better but the trucking industry is very unforgiving.Class D is a very serious charge.Companies disqualify ppl for a lot less charge then this. They have their freight to think about.Nothing against you personal but that rule applies to all applicants. So unless you can get this completely off your record you may be heading down a long road of searching for companies.

Surely your joking. I'm all for second chances, but there has to be consequences for knowingly taking part in breaking the law. Theft isn't a victimless crime, somebody suffered loss, and considering how times are tough, probably felt it extra hard. And before the few accuses me of being self righteous.....IT'S CALLED INTEGRITY AND CHARACTER.Arizona..Fats and Joetro Thank this. -
Not sure what state you live in or maybe it is that expensive because they are felonies. My little brother had some misdemeanor charges a couple years old, 3 I think. Pot, theft whatever else the little knucklehead had. He did not need a lawyer(in baltimore), paid 40$ per case. When he went to the court house the clerk gave him papers along with the case number, he filled out the piece of paper handed it in with $120 bucks(40 per)..Three months later expunged record. Obviously it is going to differ from state to state, misdemeanor to felony but it is not a difficult process and he most def didn't need a lawyer..Call the courts or check states website for info. Good luck -
I know a couple of guys who have felonies as well as a couple of people who have had DUI's and I know they went to smaller companies and worked with them until they either got their own truck and one who stayed long enough with the company he was with and then moved on to a better company that didn't judge his past and gave him a chance to prove himself and he is still working there now after six months. So just keep researching and you will find your dream.

I have a class E felony and was still hired by swift....their investigation dept called me an asked me in detail what happened and that is the first time I actually got to tell my story! Be honest if you dont give up somebody will eventually hear you out!

It amazes me how differently a female felon gets treated compared to a male felon asking the same question!
