I work for myself but considered going OTR a while back when certain commodities took a dump and adversely affected my business. I explored this thoroughly. I have 4 felony convictions (13 felony charges total) and served time in prison. Note that I have been clean and sober for a good time and have 10+ years between me and my past but I received quite a few offers so don't give up hope. I found that how you present yourself makes a tremendous difference. I set out to prove to them that all of that is not evidence of who I am but rather evidence of how far I've come and how hard I'm willing to work to overcome my shortcomings. You sound sincere so show them your character and a few will convince their insurance carriers to make the exception. Some did for me. They weren't real happy when I decided to remain in business though. LOL

In the State of Connecticut, (if that's where you were convicted) to be eligible for Expungement or Provisional Pardon,
it needs to be (5) five years from the date of conviction.
I see you stated you were incarcerated in 2012, so it does seem (5) five years has passed since it is 2017.Badmon Thanks this. -
Don't give up; Craigslist is next....flood it with phone calls. Some single truck owner-operator might need some help running teams.Last edited: Feb 26, 2017

Most of them shot me down too at first. I targeted a few that I thought my budge and started a campaign. They kept getting letters or emails from me requesting they revisit my file, usually with another letter of reference from a business owner I had dealt with. I basically camped on their doorstep. I learned that from a kid who used to show up at my yard asking for work. Day after day, week after week, he never gave up. I gave him a chance eventually. He won. Good kid, I later gave him a couple of my pain in the butt clients so he could start a business of his own. He's doing pretty good too.
Never give up, camp on their doorstep if you have to.Just passing by and austinmike Thank this.
