Pay for drivers as an O/O.

    W2 is the proper way. Pay like .65/mi and if miles are expected to be low then some sort of weekly guarantee like $1500 or whatever you can afford(more if possible). Then if the .65 is more then equal to $1500 then at .65/mi if that makes sense. It depends where your hiring out of as well.

    I’d personally not recommend percentage.

    It starts out at 40% of the gross to the truck and goes up from there. If they want 60%, they pay for fuel (they get 100% of the Fsc) and I have a few who do that which they make good coin. These guys who are paying for fuel are running a lot, always hitting their 34 hour reset.

    the accessorial fees are almost 100% passed onto the driver, there is an equipment fee we take a small percentage out for maintenance on some of the specialized equipment that is on a few of the trucks, I have one driver who does all the lumper work, breaks down the pallets and moves products to the appropriate areas on the docks, he makes me money by running the truck, he makes his money with the fees we bill the customer. He’s happy, I’m happy and the customer is very happy.
