So we are away from our homes every night, what has that got to do with it? Should hotels give travelling salesmen free rooms, just because their jobs require them to be away from home, too?
That old saying is false. A stupid question has no relevance to the original question
Pay for Reserved Parking. Good Idea or Bad?

Never mind the fact that many wouldn't even fuel there if they couldn't park there. Which brings up the reason why they supply parking in the first place, lol (eureka!). Yes, parking will be a available for a long time to come. What I could imagine happening tho .. Is that you might end up "earning" your parking spot, like with showers at the megastops.

An independent travelling salesman is much closer to the situation than the example someone else used of the wife paying to park at their own home. Just like many of us, they work on commission, with no reimbursements for expenses.
BTW, I'm not trying to change anyone's mind. However, I am pointing out that these truckstops are businesses and can charge for anything they want too. It is your choice to support, or not support these places with your dollars, as no one is forcing you to use them.
Some companies may decide to use this service and pay for it, the same as some do pay the motel bill for their drivers. It gaurantees that their drivers will actually get a safe place to park and proper rest. That is not out of the realm of reality. -

Funny thing about this 'Pay for Parking' thing is that at a lot of the truck stops my hubby has been to that offer the reserved parking, the reserved spots are sitting completely empty when he gets there, and are still empty when he leaves 10 hours later.

I was in Tampa last week arriving near midnight. That's after a live unload in the morning, and running up to Bradenton for a drop n' hook - pretty much out of hours by the time I got to the TA on I4. So, even though I do know a couple of places I can park in industrial areas up there, I elected to pay them $11 for one of those spaces - just had enough for the day. Only three of the dozen spaces were filled that night. It's TA's property, so they can do as they wish, no matter how much of a crummy (That's for you Lilbit... no "bad" language!) deal we might think it is.

BTW, even though you hate to pay, how did it feel to know that after a long day, you could get a proper parking space?
