may as well jack the price of fuel up another $1 or 2 per gallon to pay for it.

Maybe put in a toll gate just to get to the pumps then.

Yop, charge you for everything. And charge themselves right out of business.

The market will determine if it flies, or not. 20 years ago, people said paid parking at truckstops would not fly because no one would go to them. The twin T/As in Ontario don't look to be going out of business any time soon, neither is the Petro in Bordentown.

I'm aware of that and the same applies to the other locations. Like I've said, we have choices.

What's wrong with the way the Petro in Atlanta does it? Buy 50 gallons of fuel and your parking is free. They are there to make money. How many times do drivers come in, just to park, and don't spend any money in the truck stop? I know I have done it, many times.

Here's something else nobody has mentioned: When someone calls to reserve a spot at a TA that has this new reserved parking, do they pay with a credit card at that time? Or do they pay wen they arrive? If they pay when they arrive, if there is a "free" space, why not just take that one? I can't see this idea flying, really. The better solution, for places where trucks stops are full almost all the time, is the system like I stated in Atlanta.

The same problem exists at Atlanta, Bordentown and Ontario, when they run out of proper places to park, people park wherever they can and usually end up blocking others, but they still pay to park in the lot. With the reserved parking program, you get a bonafide, proper parking place. You can call ahead and pay with a card, or you can walk into the fuel desk and pay cash on the spot. However, those spots you see empty, may already be reserved and paid for.

If you come in to the Atlanta Petro after 11 PM, chances are you're not going to find parking - pay lot or not. While I'm not a fan of paid lots or reserved parking - including taking those slots out of the free parking pool, it's certainly one way to ensure that arriving late at night doesn't mean you're going to be parking on a freeway exit/entry ramp.
