Ok so im going to be starting with swift soon, and Im wondering....How do they pay. Not how much, but do they send check to mailing address? or what?
I read somewhere that they automatically put it on some card that they give you. but how do you use the card. is it like a debit card? can be used at atm? etc
If anyone has some insight on this it would be greatly appreciated.

I just looked it up for you and Swift says they pay every Tuesday and done either by direct deposit or comdata.
mje Thanks this. -
You can put it on your Comdata card if you want to, but you can arrange for direct deposit into your own account if you desire. The first check or two will be on your comdata card and then into whichever account you desire. The comdata card is also the card we use to get fuel, so you should always have it on your person. Getting your pay off it is easy enough, but there are fees involved at some point. Some drivers use it, most don't. If you want your pay sent to your bank, be sure you take a voided check with you to orientation, and it is easier to set your account up with a debit card if not already done.
scottied67 and mje Thank this. -

Understandable. Also, when fueling, the costs of fuel doesnt deduct from my personal balance right? im guessing its like a seperate account on the card.
And I currently dont have a bank account. I know....in this day in age who doesnt. but when you have no money theres no point having a bank account. I plan on opening one up after i do my 240. How would I go about doing that? Give a voided check to my DM?mje Thanks this. -
Yes once you get an account...there will be a routing number on bottom left and your new acct number on bottom right...all you have to do is give them a voided check. And you never have to worry about getting to a bank or paying com data card fees. They know how to do it.
mje Thanks this. -
And no the fuel has nothing to do with your pay.mje Thanks this. -

Many cities and towns have a credit union that is open to the community. If an individual does not have an account, these credit unions can be quite accommodating. Also, a lot of companies have credit unions that employees can join. The companies have payroll departments that can assist employees on all this.Last edited: Aug 25, 2013

I was getting direct deposit on my very first check not after a week or 2, also during orientation I know in Fontana a wellfargo guy comes and offers business accounts to those who can open an account, being with Swift the business account is free otherwise its $50 a month. I signed up for it even though I had a bank account with chase, they accepted my app and had my account info including routing etc the same day so I setup direct deposit for 95% to my chase and 5% to my wellsfargo and then setup the wells fargo to do automatic transfers of $1 a day to savings which then gives you a savings account at no monthly fees. 5% isnt much, sometimes its $30 a week into that account but if gives me a little extra savings for play money later, vacation or just when im low on money on the road I know its there.
ProjectICE and scottied67 Thank this.
