So my accountant told me that I cannot write off the cost of my medical insurance as a business expense unless I am paying myself a wage through my business. I am a single truck operation so the software doesn't have to be for multiple trucks. Can anyone recommend a good software that is easy to use? I am really not wanting to pay them more money for doing payroll for me. So if I can do it on my own I would go that route. I can pick things up pretty easily generally but the easier the better know what I mean. Any help is appreciated.

I use Truckn Pro Fleet Edition. I paid $219 for it, one time payment, not a subscription. It's not the best, I'm sure, but when I got it a little over a year ago, I wanted something cheap that would do payroll, keep track of expenses, fuel costs, things like that. They have a cheaper edition for single truck businesses but it doesn't do payroll. I am a corporation and my tax guy told me to put myself on the payroll and have the corporation pay me and my only driver (so far, the goal is to get another truck or two and drivers). Anyway it does payroll easily, however, you do have to figure the deductions yourself - there are software programs that likely are more help with that, but taxes and deductions are so complicated I think you still have to verify all that yourself, according to your state, insurance, etc. I pay my driver by the mile, and also hourly wage for some things and it handles all that well. It's easy but a little clunky in some aspects - like you can't cut and paste ANYTHING and that drives me berserk. Here's the link:

Quick books but may be a little overkill for what your wanting to do. Or perfect up to you.
