No kidding, hope TX goes for the death penalty. I mean a guy could have killed thousands for driving for one hour longer than the DOT pencil pusher thinks is safe, especially if he was also holding his phone. Nevermind all the people working double shifts and driving home.:biggrin_25526:

I am still wondering what the phone has to do with it all.

Nothing. Canuck was just injecting some levity into the situation.

I am not surprised by the act of blowing the OOS.

Back when I was in charge of the company DOT Compliance, we had a driver caught without a logbook and put out of service for 10 hours.

He called and wanted to know since the truck stop sold a logbook to him, could he leave with it instead of waiting for the OOS to run.

Jfaulk, the log violation isn't the real issue. That wouldn't have been such a big deal except that he jumped the OOS order. That's what made this whole thing so stupid.

my actual speed average is very low --in the ne-usually low 50's high 40's- so the time he showed was probabely not close even in texas----oh the joys of logbooks--one must be very vigelante--if i had to use electronic logs i would be lost--those of you who use them must get very good at trip planning--for me with the work i do i would be in a pickle--or worse

now isnt that ridiculous--for a mechanical problem yes --but for an hour issue--a 500 fine should be sufficent--hell i think i would just toss the keys to the cop-- and say merry xmas--heres your truck
