Well... if all goes as planned (yea, yea, I know) I'm penciling in 1st or 2nd week of March for orientation in Pittston.
According to my recruiter, the only hold-up at the moment was that one of my work references hadn't gotten back to them... so I swung by his house last night & rattled his cage... said he'd make sure & do it today.... he's a Patriot's fan, I think he's still in mourning
My TWIC card is ready to be picked up.... headed down to do that this afternoon... & my new passport should be in the mail by next week.
So, the only REAL hold-up now is getting everything caught up here on the homefront.... the front differential in my wife's S-10 decided to call it a career (after she tried to engage the 4WD while staying in the gas going uphill)... I managed to find another one with the right ratio... so I'll slap that back together this week... then she can stop complaining about having to drive my truck... which she calls the "big white tuna boat"(full-size Chevy extra-cab w/full 8' bed... yup, it's a long'un)
I've also got a motor to put back together for a sled & a replacement window job to finish up... & then my "unfinished business" list is complete.
I never thought I hear myself saying it, but... I really COULD handle it not snowing about every other day up here... I'm running out of room to put all the #### snow.
For those reading this & wondering... There aren't a plethora of companies that hire out of Maine... so my options were a bit more limited than most... I did however, have 5 pre-hires on the table when I got my CDL... one was a company that seems to be everyone's favorite whipping boy around here, another was one that I've only seen ONE of their trucks up here on the highway in the last 3 or 4 months that I've been watching, and a 3rd was looking for drivers for a dedicated route from extreme northern Maine to Wisconsin... but again, I've seen maybe only 2 or 3 of the trucks even up this way.
Now, the remaining two always seem to have a good number of trucks running up & down my particular stretch of I-95... however, one of those is seriously on the MSP's "excrement list"... and if I go through the parking lot of the Irving just off Exit 75 (Auburn) there's usually about a half dozen or more Prime trucks in there taking some sleeper time... & I live just a semi-decent rock toss from Exit 75.... so that, along with info from posts by Iron Pony, Sazook, U2, & a few others, pushed Prime to the top of my list.
Penciled In....

Good luck to ya. If you ever need any help or advice along the way, you can always shoot me a PM. Don't be turned off by the Pittston yard when you get there. It's currently heavily under construction and the building you'll be in is ready to come down. That'll be a nice place once the mess is cleaned up.

Thanks Mike... As I write this I just got off the phone with my recuiter a couple hours ago... everything's good to go & I'm set-up to be in Pittston orientation on the 28th... again, so long as everything up here goes as planned & the snowstorms slow down to one a week or so.

As long as it's better than Denver it can't be too bad... I've stayed in some places in northeren Maine that have to be worse. -

Thanks Nik... biggest hurdle now will be if my wife can find her way home Sunday... Granted Scranton PA to ME should be a piece of cake...
I-84 East to I-90/Mass Pike
I-90/Mass Pike East to I-495
I-495 North to I-95 North = Home
...but this is a woman that can get lost in her own back yard (yes, literally)
So, I'm leaving out the little jump between the Mass Pike & 495 via 290 through Worcester.rocknroll nik Thanks this. -
LOL....yeah you don't want mamma getting lost on the way back....I think she might get a bit P.O.'d
