I've never been around the Amish but there's a large Mennonite population in my area. Some are farmers, Some are loggers. A lot of them have trucks.
I've worked with them for years and found them to be honest, industrious, straightforward in their business dealings, and having a great work ethic.

    Lancaster,,, PA?
I'm gonna call BS on this, probably one of the more truck-friendly areas on the EC, every other farmer has a long nose Pete it seems. Unless you're specifically talking about making 3 stops IN the city itself (narrow, 18th century city streets), I could see that. I rarely have to overnight because my house and office are an hour and change away but if you need some parking spots PM me and I'll set you up with almost a dozen truckstops that AREN'T the Big 2+Loves.

As far as the Amish/Mennonite thing: don't get it, don't care. They're generally polite and if that lifestyle floats their boat more power to them. Ever since I moved out here (ex-New Yawka) city friends expect me to be "the Amish Whisperer", the heck do I know? Been here 10 years, still can't figure out why some have cars and some take their buggys to Walmart.

I do get a chuckle about the "phone at the end of the driveway". Somebody pointed that out to me and since I pass a lot of the same farms routinely I see which guys are "cheating". That's between them and their bishop though, probably about as rampant as infidelity and cheating on taxes for the rest of the country.

I've heard some drivers brag that there are Amish girls "looking for a good time" I find that rather distasteful, but anything is possible I guess.

    Staring is,,, impolite,
taking their picture is downright rude (the tourist Amish tolerate it because you can only politely decline so many times) but after living out here for 10 years? You seen one you seen em all.

Most Amish/Mennonite girls/women aren't much to write home about but there was one exception that knocked me back. Looked like a cross between Kira Knightly and Natalie Portman! Came in to get my paperwork signed and had to pick my jaw off the floor. Shame I never had to go to that farm ever again.

I tell you what....Driving RT20 in Indiana around Millersburg area at night is a site. All those buggies running at night with their LED lights dancing with the movement of the horse reminds me of bees with their buts on fire flying at night.

I have delivered several loads to different Amish business and enjoyed all my deliveries. One load was to a family farm that they formed metal for roofs. The whole male family members dad> youngest unloaded me. All the boys took off tarp and securement and cleaned up every thing for me I just watched. One time I delivered $)" steel beams to a shop the man was going to off load it with bobcat skid steer. He thought better of it when his but was in the air. He walked down the road a nd got a friend with another one and got the job done.

Thats harsh. Not everyone is or has a perfect outlook on society as you do..i guess? I run 50% on 2 lane roads and i put up with buggies, carts , farm vehicles whatever. We live in a wonderful country with different ways of life. Have even used choice words when behind one of the aforementioned on a blind curve or hill. This is in pa and ohio. You ever think, if you really are a "truck driver" that more people dont like you either. So get over yourself.

They use phones all the time around my area, no sneaking. Some have a phone, but not in the house, they have a phone shack outside. That outside phone was around shippensburg, i think.

The car thing..there is one group that can only ride so far (miles) ..then they have to switch to another car-van. My dad told me about this. He is retired and hauls them around some. Guess you could call him a (Yoder toter).

How many on welfare and unemployment, or workers comp? I live around lots of them. I can't even think of one. There could be? They are human also, not perfect but i can say this with all honesty, never had a problem. One coon hunted behind my home and kinda bugged me. 1 am and the dogs must have got one up a tree. They, or most all will not steal your stuff.
