Ifta still renews at the end of the year but my base plate renewal is September.
All commercial plates used to renew in December but they opened up a few more months cause the prorate office would get so slammed at the end of the year.stillwurkin and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
I assume you live in Pennsylvania. If you live in Pennsylvania how do you register your tags and your registration in Indiana?FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

I think he's gonna use the address of the carrier he is leasing on to. There are/were some states that you can register in without living there too but I don't know if it works for a cmv. Maine is the one that comes to mind first. PA has crappy title laws and I was in the business of buying/restoring/reselling old cars there a few years ago. If you don't register a car for 10 years in PA it is dropped from the database so if you lose the title you cannot apply for a duplicate so that old car in your grandpa's back yard that he can't find the title to is now unsellable in PA. What we used to do was buy it on a bill of sale, send bill of sale and fees to Maine to register it. They would issue a Maine title in your name and you could then take that to penndot to get a clear PA title. Indiana may have a similar situation where you don't have to be a resident. I know that got kinda side tracked but I was just trying to point out how some states work with being a non resident.clausland and stillwurkin Thank this.

IFTA and base plates two different things. You know you can have your own plate but the company your leased to can furnish your IFTA? I prefer to have both in my name but each to their own.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Do you guys in Pa have your apportioned plates and truck title in your llcs name or personal. I will be buying a truck later this year and by business has my agents address so I a lot confused on this.Last edited by a moderator: Apr 11, 2020

You can do the same thing in VT also. BOS to obtain VT title, to then obtain another state title.
VT will issue you reg, title, plates on just a BOS, even if you're a non-res. Kicker is you have like 30 days to then title & reg in your own State, and of course pay sales tax again. Make sure you keep a copy of the BOS, as your home State is gonna want it too.... -
I see a lot of maine plates. To many. Wonder if there is anything to it

I have too. It seems a lot of lease trailers like Xtralease always have Maine plates. So there must be some financial advantage to it.
feldsforever Thanks this.
