Got my authority a couple weeks ago and was inquiring about a box truck long term
rental and was told by Penske rep (in Marietta,Ga) that they will not be accepting any
more rental contracts for box trucks to do Amazon Relay because thy can barely service
their lease customers. I guess our money is not good money even though we pay a
lot more. Should I be getting in touch with a higher-up about this or just move on. I don't
think that is acceptable. Also keep in mind that he said for all of Atlanta for the forseeable
    future.

must be company wide policy. my former employer, where i retired from, had Penske lease trucks, and very often we had to have a rental. especially when our lease trucks were due for PM servicing, or warranty work at the dealerships. they are bound by contract, IF it was included into the contract, and it was for us, that Penske HAVE rental trucks available for thier leasing customers.

i can also assure you that Penske was a stickler up here in New England. to get ALL thier vehicles serviced on time.

so, you'll have to move on.

i think that if you had been a Penske customer long ago, this may not have happened to you.

arguing with them, will get you no where's, this must be a company wide policy.

and if i were a long time customer, and had a contract, for a rental when repairs or servicing was due, you had better believe i'd have more to say than you would.

this is the way it is with nearly ALL truck rental/leasing companies.

you are new.....so sorry to say....move on.....or buy a truck???

I think what they're saying is they don't have enough trucks, which is true of pretty much everyone these days. Major manufacturers are sold out thru the end of the year. Daimler has even disabled Freightliner salespeople's ordering software and drawn up a new pay package for their salespeople to account for the fact that they can't sell any more trucks.

The other day I was delivering to a Sam's store when a Penske box truck pulled up to the docks. It was an unusual sight, I was thinking it must be a new independent guy with a really sweet contract, or maybe he got lost, but then out hops a uniformed FedEx driver, doing FedEx deliveries in a Penske.

I got better rates and terms from both PacLease and IdeaLease than I was offered from Penske and Ryder.

I am only guessing, but I would imagine what Penske is doing is more about logistics than anything else. There is only so much money available to buy the equipment and the company is trying to maximize what they have.

9 months ago Penske opened up a rental terminal a block down the street from the big Schertz Tx. Amazon dc. In the warehouse district we are in. They did it because of Amazons needs.

between Kramer and George, i think Kramer was the more intelligent one.

George could screw up, screwing in a light bulb.
