That is the way to be successful when you work for someone. Just do what they ask and there is no problem.

If you are too hot you don't get the proper rest during your break. If you don't get the proper rest during your break then you have the potential to be tired when you are driving and what could happen when you drive tired? Do you understand why it is a safety issue now?

A couple of weeks with some idling will cost you thousands, why is that?

    That's so cute.

    Several things.

    1. The Freightliner shop doesn't make jack on warrantee work. That's why they put him last on the list. They hope he will go elsewhere. Happened to me when I had a Columbia that blew the head gasket. It took them 3.5 weeks to fix it. Fine by me, I got $120 /day plus room.

    2. Freightliner blows. Not the truck, the company, the dealers, the service depts. it's one of those things you will learn as a company schmuck.

    3. There's a huge advantage that a flat and a midroof have over the condo, and that advantage is heating and cooling.

If you ever plan to be an O/O, pull something other than a van. Condos are for vans.

I have to be comfortable to sleep. Laying there sweating is torture for me. Just like when it's cold, you have to have the heat on. Many times, I'd wake up sweating and felt worse than when I went to sleep. And if the truck didn't have A/C, that's one thing, but knowing it's there and not operational, it plum stupid.

If it was a safety issue then there wouldn't be idling laws If it was a safety issue then FMCSA would do something about it.I don't get why it has to be that freightliner to get the AC fixed.Surely others can have it done in a day.

    sleepy drivers are not safe.

    this ain't survival camping.

the a/c was put in the bunk area for a reason.

if was me, I'd idle and run the cab a/c.

What is the alternative? Many truck drivers who get burned out from the road but only know driving (like me) go on to drive buses locally, cabs, paratransit vans, or you can buy a cargo van and be a courier. You won't make as much as in trucking but it will be a nice change of pace.

pattyj and Wild Murphy Thank this.

If your company is treating you like a perfect driver then then have no problem paying for a room to take your 10 hr brk till the AC gets fixed do they?

    DriverToBroker Thanks this.
