I imagine as a new driver I would have to drive all throughout the night.
Do you guys have any recommendations for pills to take that would keep me alert? Maybe something with lots of ephedrine?
Pep Pills?

One word. No. Two incase you need a reminder, Hay-ul no.
Bless your heart.
I lived a early life consuming boxes of caffine pills, 40 at a sitting. Good for about 30 hours alertness.
In the third week of that running daycab containers waiting around all day in Norfolk and Baltimore, My body shut down and went to sleep with the eyes open versus a road crew who had closed all 4 lanes of 95 north of Doswell, dirverting traffic onto 1. Their constant use of the orange flags and my dreaming about it while downgrade on the ramp threatening a crew at the bottom saved them.
I would not use pills like that again ever the rest of my life, whatever it may be. When you tolerance runs out, or in this case maxes out your brain will instruct you to go straight to REM deep sleep at whatever speed you are at and you do not give a #### what is going on around you at that point. Except perhaps the profanity and yelling, why wont the people leave me alone to sleep. Geesh... whoops...Chewy352, Dye Guardian, Zeviander and 10 others Thank this. -
If you need to take pills then this IS NOT the career for you. Do everyone a favor and seek alternative career path.

I'm gonna go with @x1Heavy on this and recommend you stay clear of them. Not every driving job requires all night driving. I haul flatbed and about 90% of my deliveries and pickups are between 7am and 5pm. Most times in done driving by 8pm. So there is no reason to take them. If your tired you stop and rest.

I'd tell ya those pills will do more harm than good, but I seen your other posts.
So drink lots of sugary soda's, monsters, and redline drinks.

Unless you have a dedicated run such as line haul; every day will be different. You may drive during the daytime then switch to nightime driving. Back and forth, day/night is common with refrigerated trucking. Personally, I liked the challenge and stress of pulling reefers coast to coast and thrived on it. Concerning ephedrine, Walmart requires you to sign for it now. That's no big deal; "I need some cold medicine with ephedrine." "OK, here's a couple of packs; sign here."
