I applied for the Transport Driver position out of Dallas, TX. It's full time/evening shift and sounds pretty good. Took me over a week to get a 5 minute phone interview and now they said I am moving onto the next step of a face to face interview with the hiring managers. However, she didn't have an opening so told me to watch my email. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this is normal, how long it usually takes and if it's really worth the wait. I am green...straight out of Truck Driving School. I have a couple of OTR companies that I can start orientation with in the next week or two-just not sure how to proceed......Thank You in advance!

Did a face to face up here in Michigan couple weeks ago. Thought the interview went well but wasn't chosen. Was told
if they take me then will be called within a couple of days. If not then Pepsi will send a email and they did! Interviewed
Monday and received email the following Sunday evening. Called and thanked them and moved on!
Hope this helps some. -
There are a couple of dozen OTR companies that start orientation every week; but that doesn't mean they're good companies to work for. Living around Dallas, you're in the hiring area for some good OTR companies. Beverage companies and union companies seem to have a habit of keeping applicants in the dark. Only you know your financial situation and if you can afford to wait around for Pepsi to make a move. Does a Pepsi transport driver that's home every day make good money? Do you have any endorsements?
kafreese Thanks this. -
I have all my endorsements and my financial situation is such that I need to get to work. The lady on the phone interview said they pay 44.8/mile but she didn't have an average mileage. I definitely feel like I'm in the dark.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Here's some tanker companies where you can make a grand or more a week. They all hire new CDL grads even though some websites may say "experience required." Submit the online apps and you will probably have job offers within a day or two.
Schneider Bulk
Superior Carriers
Trimac
SVTN
CTL Transportation
Airgas
Tidewater Transit
Melton Truck Lines has a terminal in Dallas and hires new CDL grads; one of the better flatbed companies around, especially for new drivers.
System Transport is another good flatbed outfit that hires out of the Dallas area.
Should make over $52K with flatbed.kafreese Thanks this. -
Thank you Chinatown. I appreciate the info!

Sorry to bombard on your thread kafreese,
Chinatown I see you are very helpful around this parts. Can you please list any local companies to work for straight out of CDL school with new york, and new jersey?
Thank you. -
What does the face to face interview consist of?
-
It was very basic.....not a lot of substance. Asked if I could back into docks, drop and hook, etc. Told me about the hours, days, etc. I ended up NOT getting the job.
-
Very similar to what kafreese mentioned! Was also asked if dealing with difficult
customers would be a problem? Not only that aspect but factor in any weather
conditions that you must deliver in and then you face a difficult customer that
has you thinking "Boy I'd love to shove these returns right up your recycle bin!"
Anyway you get the picture! When interview was over they said if we give
you the offer we will call, if not you'll receive an email.
