I applied to Pepsi about a month ago for a driver trainee position in my area and was wondering if anyone knows any info on the company as a delivery driver position? Are they union? Is this a good way to obtain my CDL A? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Lucky you I just had an interview with those tards
And they ain't got much offering
Office is union
Drivers no
60 bucks a trip
Try to keep you within 150 miles of terminal
Then they said a city 5 hours away they deliver to
The deal breaker for me was no free unlimited Pepsi and he said that the yard switchers were the highest paid drivers last year @ 52k
Be alright for someone that needs home and the same boring routes to Sam's club and Costco but expect 12 hr days so basically 10$ an hr
(This is a linehaul truckload plant to store direct gig)Squad27 Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info, I have a interview Thursday and really want to get my cdl without having to spend 4500 dollars!

With Pepsi, you will get your CDL eventually & at the same time ruin your back.
Try some trucking company sponsored training where they pay, not you.
Willis Shaw Express
CRST
Prime Inc.
Central Refrigerated

We receive shipments every day from various companies: Coke, Pepsi, 7-Up, RC Cola, Budweiser, Anhouser-Busch, McLane, Highland Dairy, and various other companies.
The common denominator among all these drivers is back trouble, often quite serious.
Also, a lot of these drivers also have serious problems with their hands, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, and their necks.
Bottom line is that these delivery jobs are very hard on the human body. -
Good luck to you>

I do local side loader delivery with beer. I'm 23 and the first month wore me out. If you wear gloves, it'll save your hands. If not, they get tore up like mine but they callus over. Getcha a good pair of shoes. And don't think about what you're doing. You'll either love it or hate it. Good work out. I feel bad for the guys that are still doing it at age 50 tho. I took the job hoping to move up. If you do bulk (walmart, same, ect.) it's mostly bumping the dock and pallet jacking it off the truck and your merchandiser puts it up. Do hourly if you can. I know some guys who have salary pay (such and such a week) and they get hammered. At least hourly it's worth having a lot of cases.

Thank you for the helpful information guys I really appreciate it. I wouldn't mind going with a company like prime or crst but i am expecting my first child in November and would not want to miss the birth. I have been preliminary accepted into my local community colleges next CDL A class but the cost is $4100 and 8 weeks long, 7 am -530 pm mon- thurs and since I wouldn't be able to work it would be a real struggle if i had to get a loan for the class. Im really wanting to become a CDL driver just trying to figure whats best for me and my soon to be family.

If CargoWahgo is correct I would go for Pepsi.
The mega-carrier training company will charge you the same $4100 for two weeks of worse training. They will however forgive that debt after 2 years of service. The problem is that even with a debt overhead, few drivers make it even one year:106% turnover. And if they made it the two years they would have worked longer for less money than the $10 an hour that the pepsi job would have gave. It sucks working for the Megas and they cheat you anyway they can. That is why people leave and they are always training.
It sounds like you are young enough a little hard work might not be so bad. I know I enjoyed it when I was younger and still do. The pepsi job may lead to a better opportunity and the job itself translates much more directly to a good paying job than OTR. OTR jobs translate to almost nothing and have little respect.
Anyway, if things do not work out the local pepsi gig allows you to apply for other jobs; you cannot do that OTR and the mega's exploit that fact.Squad27 Thanks this.
