    Alright guys,

I'm here to irritate you again with yet another question about the O/O world. England(the only experience I have so far) offers a lease program. No, I will not be taking advantage of this fantastic opportunity. But, I have seen some of what they insist you budget for on your lease, and I was wondering how that compares to the way you guys do it. The main one I'm interested in is the cost of maintenance. England sets aside $.07 a mile for maintenance costs that may occur down the road. How does this compare to your budgets? If you earn $1.50 a mile, how much of that is set aside, and for what, compared to what you get as profit? Thanks again for your advice,

    Mike S.

I set aside .20 for maintenance. On average anything under .10 for maintenance cost is decent so i'd set aside .10 minimum. I set aside more incase i have something major go wrong like needing an inframe. Ya know, just to have a rainy day fund. Depending on fuel cost and mpg, fuel can cost between .50 and .80 per mile. Mine cost .53 average, but I get 7+mpg. Insurance, permits etc, can cost upto .10. This depends on what the company pays for and what you pay for. Some companies have free baceplate (license plat, norm around 2k a year) and permits. The rest is profit. If you can keep your fuel cost bellow .60 and your permits/insure/maint under .20 you could make a decent amount. Dont forget, your empty miles burn fuel to.

Not to bad on figures there R . :) I'd recommend worse scenario like 5MPG at 4 a gal cause were close to it already, as a base figure cause others might be looking at a Used Cat Tractor and pulling LOTS of mountains. That's I how I set my deal up so I know worse scenario. Your #'s are within reason but more on the best scenario side. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. LOL

it's kinda hard to really have a base number. considering that fuel mileage is all over the map these days.

2 weeks ago. i pulled 1500 pounds from des moines to sacramento. fill up in des moines. got 6. filled up in evanston, wy. got 8. made the delivery and went home empty. on that last tank of fuel.
