I'm an experienced driver, took some time off chasing other dreams and recently came back to driving. I am starting plans to buy a truck in the next 2 years. As of now I'm looking at leasing with either landstar or roadrunner. I hear good things about farm 2 fleet but don't know anything about them. Just wondering if somehow they're calculating percentages different or does landstar provide you with something roadrunner doesn't? Landstar being at 68% and roadrunner being at 90-96% all things equal would be a no brainer but I have a feeling something is off with the math. Also any additional details you can give about each would help.

I'm looking for a company where you book your own freight since the end goal is to get my own authority. The primary areas I'm interested in running are midwest and south/ southeast. How much freight does landstar have there and how are their rates in those areas? Like I said I'm vert early in the process of writing the business plan but I'm looking to have as much info as possible. I will have my numbers in line before u buy anything. I keep a journal with my daily fuel expenses as well as all maintenance performed on the truck and whether or not I would have been able to diagnose/repair it myself.

I may be wrong on this but I am pretty sure LandStar doesn't lease trucks, and neither does Farm2Fleet, you will have to buy a truck to "lease onto" either one of them. Both companies get good reviews on this forum though. As far as Road Runner goes, I did a lot of research on them and you can lease a truck from one of their vendors. I have talked to some drivers that were running under their authority and the ones I talked to, were happy. The thing I noticed was some rough looking trucks though. That doesn't bother me, as long as it passes DOT inspection.
