Perkins is out of business and Hiner who merged with them to are out of business, so now do you say I was wrong? Also I would bet you now have no Perkins truck!
-
I say ANYTIME a company is talking of mergering or liquidating in anyway, acquiring debts/not acquiring etc..... this kind of talk is never good! This is just sugarcoating....... as you can see in this thread if you read from page 1-6.....the writing was on the wall....

Let's see you posted your response on 11/18/2010 praising Perkins. You say in your post your truck will be paid off in 2 years. That would be what? somewhere around 11/18/2012. Didn't happen did it? Still feel the same way about Perkins. I was with Perkins for 2 1/2 yrs on a 3 yr lease. I never turned down a load, never went home because I had a goal in mind. You think 900.00 a wk/45K a yr is good money for an "owner operator" ? That's company driver pay. The best thng that happened to me was cutting ties with that bogus company and it's lease purchase program. I really feel bad for the drivers that were still there when they went out of business and lost their trucks. I said it when I was still there in 2010 that Perkins would not last much longer with the way it treated their drivers and the way they did business. I was right. They are gone and good riddens to bad rubibish. I just hope they don't re-emerge in the form of another trucking company under a different name. I wonder if Kevin Anderson was as smug the day he found out he no longer was employed by Perkins as he was in the last year I was with them? My advice to anyone wanting to own their own truck is to be a company driver first, keep your credit clean, save up and buy your own equipment. Be a true Owner Operator. A lease purhase operator is not an O/O. Since leaving Perkins I went back to company driving, saved up and bought my own truck and trailer. I am now on my second truck since 2010. I clear $150,000 a yr. because I book my own loads, bill my own customers and call my own shots. I also run legal. Something you can't do trying to obtain a truck through a lease purchase. There is no trucking company out there who can offer a fair lease purchase program. If anyone says there is then you are not being truthful. I guess you just don't want to be laughed out of the trucktop when you pull in with your pretty, new or in some cases newly used leased company owned truck. I laugh at 900.00 a wk/45,000YR as "good money"

Best Company I ever drove for was Lonestar TraNSPORtation. They are a flatbed company and have lots of miles. I got fired for refusing to run a load to canada. THey asked me to go ahead and pick it up and talk about it later so I did. But to no avail. I told them they had to pay me to go,l they thought my regular rate was good enough. They make extra off of canadian loads, they can afford to pay the drivers that go up there. They don't realize theat it takes a special breed to drive up there. Hell. Pay me for my expertise and I'll gladly do it. But all jokes aside, if I could go back on everything I'd have kept my mouth shut. For one year experience I started at 40 cents and ran 3200 to 3600 miles weekly. Krap deal is you get paid every two weeks. But I was making 2200 a paycheck and they have nice equipment with a fridge. Wish I was still there. This was in December 2012

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's a lot and I thought this company I drove for had a bad safety score.Only they changed names dot number everything because it was just a matter of time they would have been forced to shut down.

For any 24 truck fleet to have over 300 inspections in 2 years, it doesn't exactly say much for their reputation. -
People think small carriers are the best to drive for because they know you be name or your voice. But more times then not they have the worst safety.I learned my lesson.I drove for a company with 25 trks,a close friend who is an O/O got me the job.Now for any company I look up their safety first before deciding.
