I've been in the hotshot business for about 7 years but I never really had to go outside of Wyoming. Last month, was my first experience with port of entry's and weigh stations...

I made it through the POE without any troubles but later found out when crossing state lines you need permits which I guess can be purchased at the POEs or somewhere online where it's cheaper?

Last but not least, if I pull a load in excess of $26,001llbs I was told I need to become a member of IFTA. I am curious about the laws pulling over 26K, permits etc... Thanks :biggrin_2554:

Posting to subscribe.. (for some reason the subscribe button is freezing up my browser). Also, to see what answers you get, cause I'm wondering about the permits needed as well. Doing some research to see if I really want to get into the hotshot bus. or if it's worth it.
I see you've been doing it for 7 yrs, so it would seem there is something to it -- either that or you've got way to much money burnin a hole in your pocket!

Actually , IFTA goes by GCWR or registered weight , not load weight . Ask your DMV about approtioned plates. You need to record mileage for fuel tax in every state you drive in .
