Is there a national alcohol permit? Or, do I need to get a permit from each state I plan on picking up an alcohol load? What are typically the requirements for this permit?

Not sure of the requirements but... My company hauls Booze out of KY all the time going to the Rockie Mtns... Only permit for booze we have is issued by Commonwealth of Kentucky Alcohol Beverage Control... It has to be renewed each year.

Which states require permits to haul beer?PE_T Thanks this. -
It is a state by state permit. Only state I'm aware of with no permit is CA hard to believe

I'll have to check that. My permit book doesn't have one thanks

I used to have on for Ca when I hauled wine out of there.

State by state.
Instance Maryland required one for Seagrams Spirits inbound from the sea and exports from there as well.
Iowa had a permit for beer etc from St Louis east of Des Moines.
Ive hauled enough of alcohol to understand it's a state by state thing. There is no National, it would be too easy. -
...and you have to renew each state every year.

This is a good question. I get it that it is state by state but what states exactly and is it required for passing through too or only pick up and/or deliveries? I never found a clear answer. Even the brokers have no clue..."New Jersey, New Jersey..or some states in N.E." they say.
