I am about to begin Hauling Machinery for a local Business. My question is how difficult is it to buy permits directly from the State. I will be hauling both wide and overweight equipment. Permit agencies are charging $30 per state so with the Permit fee I'm looking at close to $100 per State. Any help appreciated

Some states you can order direct
The fee part you include in your rate as business expense... -
I would gladly take a 100 permit versus what we pay for some now
Welcome to heavy haulcnsper Thanks this. -

Yes they are, but easy pulls for anyone
Just takes all day -
Some states like AL is fairly easy to go directly to the state, I think you can set up account on their website and order directly from there.
Others like my home state of TN is awful. Only way you can order directly from the state is call it in but you have to pick it up at the office in Nashville or wait for it to come through the regular mail. It's not too bad for me as I'm in Nashville daily but if you are 100 miles away it can be a problem. I've talked to the powers that be about this but the fact is they don't want to deal with individuals, they'd rather just deal with permit services.MJ1657 Thanks this.
