OK. Im recently separated Veteran so I heard a lot from CRE and their training for veterans. I already had my CDL so I didnt have to make a commitment. The problem was that I did not have any experience. I talked to the recruiter and the offered me a better job money wise so I quit the job I had. I went to their refresher program and every time I had a question they would say, you will get it with your Trainer. They used to pay 64 dollars a day during Phase 1, now they just changed it in May. Now you get paid 9.25 every hour behind the wheel and your state minimum wage for on duty non driving. After I went to the training I had to wait for a trainer for almost 10 days spending money of course.I already knew this but I was expecting driving more hours with a better paycheck I cant event pay my rent with that kind of money. After been on the truck for almost 2 weeks driving from 8-10 hours a day, they largest paycheck I had it was like 350. Certainly, not what I was expecting. Some people said it was pretty good for training. Good or not, I couldn't afford to be working for that kind of money so I resigned and trainer dropped me off.My question is, would anyone else take me as student with better pay??? Im willing to pay my dues in this industry but I cant afford that kind of money. My trainer told me that he was getting pay 500 a week take home and thats why he had to do the Trainer Program. They start ppl off 25-26 cents per mile. Any advice or input?? Will they mess with my DAC report so bad that would make it difficult to find employment??
Thanks

Gut check time: Give me a YES or NO answer...can you drive a truck? If YES, why are you wasting time with the bottom of the bottom feeder companies when you have all those oilfield, potash, cattle, grain hauler companies all around you? Screw the alley docking and the door slamming stuff. If you have your CDL in hand, go apply for a real job and make your money.
"But I'm a student. I'm still learning. Don't I need to finish training?"
You will finish training. We all are still learning. Your location allows you the opportunity to avoid the mega carrier BS circus.harlycharly55, LoneCowboy, Cman301 and 1 other person Thank this. -
wow that's a massive ##### where it doesnt belong. there are several companies that have a 1st year apprentice program for the GIB. HOWEVER! the companies that do often times pay less per mile. my trainer and i sat down and did the math you'd be better off getting into a company that starts off at 36 cpm. as apposed to the lower paying ones.
i just got hired on with a smaller company called RBX they paid me $100 for orientation and i cant remember if they said 475 or 450 per week for training (IEDs play hell on the memory) but after training i'll be making 38cpm + up to a 10cpm fuel bonus. check em out here's a awesome write up another driver did for them: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...scoop/246180-my-rbx-journey-strafford-mo.html
they do have an 8 week refresher course for returning drivers w/ length depending on how well you do. -
Living in Texas you have a lot of opportunities for local work with minimal experience. Check out the fracking companies and I am sure you could find something that pays close to $20 a hour plus I am sure the company would help a veteran out with some training if you lack certain skills (backing and all the usually newbie stuff).
I worked with CRE for 4.5 years and had veterans as students, as well as, active reservists and England didn't treat them any better than a guy off the street. It will only get worse with CRE. -
I have checked and most companies want you to have at least 1 year of experience. Yeah I didn't really quite get the alley docking tho. My location does not have any oilfields or anything like that. I believe the closest one is like 6 hours away from me. Thanks

Maybe you need to start out driving around in a F350 with a Big Tex trailer hauling hot shot loads. I'm sure once you get your foot in the door those companies will eventually get you into a large 18 wheeler. You may be away from home during the week but eventually you will find a local gig. It took me about 5 years to finally get where I wanted to be at as far as trucking .

Contact Schneider about their tanker division. They also have a veterans program.
Don't worry about your DAC with England; all companies are familiar with them.
Prime pays $700.00 a week for training pay. I'd try Schneider first though about their tanker division.blairandgretchen and harlycharly55 Thank this. -
blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I do not have the endorsements. I just have my CDL with no restrictions.
