I left my pickup sit 10 weeks at a time for a few years and never had a problem
I filled it before parking to remove any room for moisture that may build from temp swings.
If you use an additive add it before you drive to the yard to give it a chance to run thru the lines and into the fuel system.

That said... this spring I fired up a car that had set for well over a year with no fuel treatment at all and after the ECM "re learned" how it should work, everything was OK.

I use Seafoam on outboard engines too,one can per one gallon of gas.
Take it out and run it hard.It smokes like a beast burning off carbon.
I have pulled the heads after that and the pistons look brand new like they just came out of the box.
Sta-bil does work to preserve gas but i like to use them both.

That must be a local law because I have never heard of it and believe me I've hauled lots of ethanol in the the premium. What's written on the side of the pump must be in the gasoline. If not they are in violation of the law. You might see what you discribed with ethanol way out in the country but in a city that is under air restrictions no way.

Ethanol is also known as a octane booster and the bigger companies are now using what they call sub-grade to save money. They used to give octane away so in the winter your premium was around 99 octane. Since they outlawed MTBE they use ethanol in the reformulated gasoline all the time now but it's at a lower percentage than the winter fuel. Ethanol in gasoline is used as a oxganat so don't get it mixed up with the E85 that is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline.

I've also had good luck with Lucas products lately.
