well this argument is just typical of truckers...its hard to get anyone to agree on anything!!!! much less trucks. there are those of us who love the KW and those of us who love the Pete. we cant change the Pete lovers minds and they cant change us KW lovers minds. the Pete lovers see everything about their trucks as great and wonderful and we see everything about KWs as great and wonderful. thats just life. its no different than the chevy/ford arguments. so just pick the truck you like buy/lease/drive it and lets move some freight and make some money.

Other then the comment I'm stating below, I'll keep my mouth shut!

I myself was a die hard Peterbilt (<--- Look, I spelled it correctly) fan. You know where my last Peterbilt sent me? Right into the cab of a Volvo! The mech..anical aspects of a Pete are worthless. They are not built to last... They are built to get you from repair shop to repair shop. I couldn't afford to repair anymore. So I took what money I had left & bought a Volvo.... Trust me, This is my first Volvo. I've had 3 Pete 379's. This Volvo is a much better truck mechanically & comfort wise! Plus it looks cooler then any W9 or 379 I've ever seen. But that is just me.... I can make anything look good. Will I buy another Pete? Not as long as the fire is still burning in hell.

after 25 yrs of pulling wrenches my opinion is that all trucks have there good points--and they all have bad points--beauty is in the eye of the beholder--except for volvo--they are hmm utilitarian looking---best interior would be volvo--lots of planning there--but they are pigs to work on--no fun taking off inner fenders to get at anything--and very cramped underside--w9l are beautiful but you pay thru the nose for parts--bit quirky to work on but not bad---inside ok unless you have a fat ###--cant get between seats---379s are good nice to work on --lots of room every where--can be pricy for parts--very good quality contol on workmanship---shakers-hmm well not as pricy--bit rough drove a new classic for a few years--the workmanship is awful--but not bad to work on and not too bad for unit specific parts--like the previous posters said--its how you want to mainly look--how much money you have---and how much you want to make----want to look good--get a long nose---want to make money--get a volvo---want to have screw around scaling your load cause you cant get weight on steers--get a w900--or if you are mechanically inclined and want to spend your time off putting the parts that fell off back on---get f-liner--

The "renowned class" ended in 1987 for Peterbuilt, anyone and everyone that builds, owns or has ever run one understands this historical "FACT".

Fried Tater.. Though your "FACT" is laughable as your screen name is, you might have a better chance of convincing somebody if you could at least spell Peterbilt when stating "FACT" about them.. :laughing-guffaw:

I'd stay down for good after making a post like that!!
I debated whether or not to even quote it.. You must have done something awful in your past..
That has to be the worst most twisted case of freak bad luck I ever heard of.... :sad11:

At least your honest though, which is more than I can for some in here..
Nobody in their right mind would post a story like that about their own self it weren't true.. :smt085

PM me your adress.. I wanna send you a sympathy card.. :smt024

    It does.

Say what you will. But I don't need any sympathy. This Volvo has been one of the most pofitable & low overhead truck I have ever ran. You can keep your cool.... I'll keep my cash!

My 99 379 ended it's own life in a ball of fire... 379's & I just don't see eye to eye. Now if you want to debate trucks... Debate Autocar & Marmon!
