So far i'm having great luck with my mx 300,000km/190,000 miles haven't had any problems with it yet, my dealer keeps up with with the ecm updates and any recalls and so far so good, really my only complaints are it could use more hp/torque and the noisy air compressor i hate driving around a parking lot with the window down and hearing that thing kick in it's like a second diesel motor started up under the hood.

If you can delete the DEF then you can fit a free flow exhaust I would think.
Couple this to a better intake and if it is like the12,6l Euro 3 you can get a 8% power boost, better Mpg and quicker throttle response.

As an owner of a once, and still cursed, Mercedes MBE4000, all I have to say is Pacccar is now the last manufacturer to bring over their Euro engines to the US and they are way behind Mercedes(Freightliner) and Volvo in that respect.

I find it funny that some of the guys that mention the Mercedes Emblem on my old 2004 Columbia are driving Paccar trucks with DAF motors! LOL

Good job Pete and KW for selling these good ol boys a line of c r a p !!!

Oh sure, it has been around over the pond for a long time. Sure that may be true, but I would venture a guess that in Europe and South America the Mercedes and then the Volvo are top dogs for a reason, not DAF.

It took Volvo and Mercedes a long time to get people used to the Idea of a euro motor. Paccar will have to go through the same thing. Unfortunately for Paccar, the DAF motors were never on par with Volvo or Mercedes to begin with.

The simple fact that the DAF/Paccar MX is only available in a 485 version should tell you something.

Who in their right mind at Paccar ever thought a light duty euro engine not even rated over 500hp could ever replace the old CAT motors? Answer: Nobody did. They just decided to let the sales guys go to work and this is the result.

Question for the MX fan boys....where is the MX equivalent of the DD16? Hell they don't have an equivalent for the DD15 yet!! The MX is only comparable to the DD13 which is essentially a replacement for the OM406LA/MBE4000.

Nice job doing your research goes out to the old school hood drivers running around in a Pete or KW with one of these little motors!! You are now running around in your super hood trucks with an MBE 4000. How the Hell did you guys who bought these things ever fall for this scam? Congratulations! You have a super truck with a limp wristed euro turd for a motor and you are now complaining and wondering what went wrong? Holy crap you guys really do have brand loyalty, that's for sure!

If KW or Pete put a Prius motor in a truck and put a fancy Paccar logo on it, or better yet a big red KW or Peterbilt logo, would you buy it??

Just look at a pic of the MBE4000 next to the MX. Look similar???

12.9 Liter motor in a super truck!! LOL why cant I stop laughing. Ok I am laughing with you guys, NOT AT YOU ok?

12.9 Liter motors are for vocational and regional trucks!! Even I know that. But again, when Paccar comes out with something, its got be the ral deal for "real" truckers right?? LOL

    Sorry cant stop laughing.

Good luck Paccar! Good luck to all my fellow MBE/MX owners out there! Welcome to the world of turdly trucking!

It only took Mercedes/Freightliner 6 years to go from the MBE4000 to the DD15 and DD16 so have hope! By 2020 there might be a MX15 and MX16

Why would i want that?(really, please explain how a 15/16 liter would make my life better)

    Care to explain this remark?
    You gross out at 80 000lbs,we run between 96 000 and 110 000lbs.

Better check your facts,Mercedes isn't even close in the race.

Thank you,may i wish you the same?

you are clearly a fanboy of the MX but if you are a European fanboy your questions are misplaced. My comment is solely intended and directed towards the MX motor and its use in the NORTH AMERICAN market. You guys in Europe are not who I was laughing at...I mean with!

Wow you Paccar boys are really on here doing damage control aren't you! I am impressed!

Also, with a handle like yours, you might want to think twice before you deny being a fanboy!
