Pete 389 Mirror Control Module

My mirrors have developed a mind of their own. They will suddenly go out without my touching the adjust button and when I push the button to bring them back in sometimes it works and sometimes it don't. Then sometimes it won't work and suddenly they will come in all the way so I can see myself.
Question I have is where is the Mirror control module located and how can it be tested? The switch I know I can test the current flowing through it but not sure about the module.
