Thanks Rawze I will take your opinion as you seem to know and have or had this motor. My truck runs at 1450 rpm around 68 miles per hour. 8 usually run 1300 1350 62-64 miles per hour on the highway cruise control as much as possible. I try not to lug the engine up hills so I down shift to use more hp than torque I heard that will increase fuel mileage by using less torque but that probably could be debated also?? I have a 10 speed with 372 gears. THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL TH INPUT.

I say that u need to stay out of any model truck that is 08' to 10' my uncle had an 08' 387 with 428k on it when he bought it made him go bankrupt by the 550k mark with over 30k in repairs to it. Now he got a new 2013 kw t660 after recovering himself and that thing barely takes up 1 gallon of oil in 20k and he runs it under 1500 rpm great mpg over 7.5 with 80k full and can go over ten at 50k lb and the truck has over 120k mi in just under 9 months since he bought it. The best advice I can give u is get rid of that truck

Besides the oil issue how are the cummins in these trucks. I am trying to get as much information as I can before I purchase one. I found a couple 387 with cats in them and only 1 low mileage one with a cummins. Also from your experience any pros or cons for this truck besides high beam light(seems to be the biggest complaint lol)

torn engine head, leaking oil pan, blown turbo, oil pan again, water pipe, thermostat, etc. Thlugh a buddy of mine also had a cummins in his 386 08' but it had the same problems and same amount of repairs at 500k as well
