How did you lower the front end like that? Car carrier front springs modified?

O.K. I read farther in the the thread and saw you have some some type of hydraulics to lower it.

That would be cool if it could jump up and down like a lowrider Impala. :)

I have seen ones with the square bumper the low that have some sort of motor to tilt the bumper up from the bottom so it has tons of clearance! Looked pretty cool!

When I've seen 'em that low I had the idea of them doubling as a snow plow.

Hydraulics that would move the left side of the bumper forward to push the snow to the side.

My thought was that it could have another extension behind the bumper that could be actuated thus extending the width of the bumper by a foot or two. Of course real snow plows have a curve to them so it's probably impractical.

Stupid, crazy stuff I come up.

The front suspension height is controlled by how much air pressure I put in the bags. Aired all the way up the bottom of the bumper is about 7 inches off the ground.

I think post #27 in the thread will answer your questions. If not, then please, feel free to ask me any questions you do have. Basically I used a Meritor FF943 front axle ("Car Hauler Axle"), single leaf springs and 255 tires. Air bags are used to control the height. I could have gone lower, but my engine (C-15) won't allow me to without modifying the oil pan or raising the engine.

    milskired Thanks this.

If anyone has any questions about the truck or the build, please ask. I had a really hard time finding info on this stuff before I started this project so I figured I'd start a thread for the next guy so he doesnt have to search so much for info.

Please post your comments or questions on the original thread. Its easier that way for me, thank you.
