I have a Pete 387 with a Cummins ISX. I have only had the truck for a short time. It seemed to run fine in the warmer weather, but now that it is cold, my engine temp runs 160 to 170 and pulls 30 to 40# of vacuum through the air filters. The air filters are new as of 2 weeks ago. It runs like crap when the temp is low and pulling that much air. When the temp is 200 or so, it runs like a champ? I have tried putting cardboard in front of the radiator, and it only slightly helped, but when it is very cold, it doesn't help at all.

Any ideas of what I could do???
    Thanks!!

Sounds like you need to replace the thermostat . That should get the engine temps up where they belong .

You might just want to stop by a Cummins shop (not a truck dealer) and ask them about it they should be able to give you some idea's

What temp thermostats are you running?
Mine never gets below 180 for long,I have no idea what vacuum it pulls but I don't notice a fall for temp.

Are you running blended fuel?Could it be gelling?

Is it new,or just new to you?

Could be CAC leak exacerbated by contraction of cold metal?

Random questions to consider I guess.
