Took my truck to a Peterbilt dealer to change my clutch. Picked up my truck and notice my speedometer was not working correctly. Took the truck back. They said they damaged the speed sensor while dropping the transmission to change the clutch. They said they would replace the sensor at no cost. In the process they said they had to change another part along with the sensor which required the Yoke to be removed. Some rotor thing. The Yoke would not come off so they had to cut it off with a torch. This also damaged the output shaft from the transmission. The truck should be ready for pickup later this afternoon.

My question is. Should they be responsible for everything and not just the speed sensor. As in the two days of Labor the Yoke output shaft and everything else associated with it?

Whatever else happens, I would never go back there. They sound like stupid hacks.

It all started when the mechanic didn't know how to unplug the speed sensor wire and broke the plug.

Document everything. Get every persons name and title that you talk to and when you talked to them. Every correspondence needs to be put in writing on the service paperwork or an email. All emails should include the Service manager, and the General manager of the dealership.

They should be resposible for all of it to me. Record everything and get it in writing that it was their fault to begin with. My uncle had to buy a guy a new 18 speed tranny because it fell off the jack and broke something and he wouldn't be able to get the parts to fix it for 2 weeks or something.

Tough situation. They are responsible for there damage but I would be real leery of having them tear any further into that transmission to fix it. What will they F up next

This is an easy one...If they broke it, they should fix it. Everything, no exception.

I agree with the guys who say to never use that shop again.

Toner ring goes behind the yoke ,don't know why it needed changing the speed sensor reads the toner ring, it's a brass ring with magnets in it evenly spaced never goes bad? Anyway best of luck to you and happy New Year

GET THE TRUCK OUT OF THERE!!! Who is cutting what with a torch on clutch job? I wouldn't want them to touch another thing. Find a good shop, and send the old shop the bill with your lawyers name.
