I am thinking about removing my 63 inch flattop sleeper and I want to put on either a 48 or even 36 inch flattop. I was just wondering if anybody had any knowledge of what a 63 inch sleeper weighs versus a 48 inch or even a 36 inch flat top?

I had the same thoughts when I built my 359 its a 63in from factory but I really wanted a 36 so I bought a super straight one for a grand. After a few beers a friend that runs the loader at the quarry made a bet that it would be less than 400 pounds difference. I took it and lost. With all the interior in them and the a/c unit under bunk just like they came off the trucks its 375 pounds difference according to their scales. After seeing that I keep my 63 cause the serial number matches the truck. I know there is a little difference in the way a 59 and 79 sleeper is built, but both of these are 59 double doors. So I bet that the 379 63 and 36 are similar in difference. If I was running closer to home I would run the 36, cause I like the stretched out look it would give my truck. After kinda stretching out in it and looking around if I was out more than 2 or 3 days I ain't so sure its for me. Don't get me wrong I don't spend much time in the bunk, no tv or entertainment. A place to hang my close or almost stand up to change is nice compared to the bunk touching the walk thru frame.

How much was it to stretch your frame?
