I got a 96 379 and when its settin still and u steer it to the right it hits a hard spot and stops short of all the way, if your moving it's fine. It steers fine to the left, and drives very good. Just put a new power steering filter in, didn't change anything. The tie rods are good, just had alignment. Any thoughts?

With the proper operation of the steering gearbox relying on the stability of the axle in the chassis, I would first check for axle shifting when sitting still and steering from lock to lock. I would be looking for movement at the spring shackles/spring eyes at rear of front springs. Axle shift can throw off the proper operation of the steering control valves.

I had one that had similar symptoms to this, and it ended up being the power steering pump.

I herd of a factory recall on that. That the truck didn't turn right. Non ever made it back to be fixed lol

That's how they first show their weakness, at idle, raise idle slightly and problem goes away.

I have a 99 379 mine started that too I replaced the filter then eventually the pump went out while I was backing into a produce dock....

how much does the pump cost how could i tell if there is a recall on the pump

If I remember right it's around $200 and some change
