Sign all the petitions you want. You see how well that went with the ELD’s.

True but no resistance at all and you might as well roll over and die. Make them work for it and make them suffer for it!

Thanks for the help. In the time it took to write that post you could sign it and be done with it.

Slowing down does not immediately guarantee a mileage increase. From Corsica, SD to Guymon, OK I did 4.75 on Monday, with about 4,500 pounds on the deck, running between 60 and 70mph because rain and slow people on 2 lanes. From Raton, NM to Jackson, WY and then over to Casper, WY I did 6mpg, with 46,000 pounds on the deck to Jackson, and I was running 75 to 80 something depending on hills.

I can only imagine trying to get across Kansas or some place nice and flat at the agonizing pace of 55 mph. Iowa gives me a rough idea of how much it sucked.

Try using controls in your test. The same route, weight, and wind speed. Compare a variety of constant speeds ranging from 50-80 mph multiple times. This is the scientific method, in which you take variables that don't change and observe the results when you change another variable. You should find that slowing down reduces the effects of wind resistance that is prevalent above 50 mph.

Or I would see the same results as I have of 5 and a half years driving this truck. An engine turning 1650 rpms, at 650 degrees on the Pyro, pushing 15 or so pounds of boost, will get better mileage at 75 than 55.
