Lets say a company has a "no pet policy" for company drivers and they do not allow pets to ride along with a company driver.
What if its a companion animal? I can ask my recruiter but I figure someone here may have ran into this at some point. I have social anxiety and my DR wrote me a companion animal letter which has allowed me to live places that do not allow pets and makes it so I have no pet deposit as my siberian is my companion not my pet. He is my buddy and he keeps me sane.
Anyone ever ran into this? Bout to call my recruiter to set my training date and was going to ask but I wanted legit responses as recruiters tend to sugar coat everything.

Best bet is to find out from the company. I would say though, if having a pet is a must for you, go to a company that allows pets. Not sure what the stance would be for a "companion animal" unless it's a registered service animal.
-
My thought is if your OTR your truck is your home and there are specific rules in the law that allow you to have your Companion animal regardless if they allow pets or not. I know someones going to make an assy comment saying if you need a companion animal you shouldnt be trucking and blah blah blah. Social anxiety does not impede the functions of driving and traffic stress yadda yadda its just large groups of people and some other activities.
I dont absolutely need my dog I wont die without him but I really dont want to leave him home where I dont know how hes being fed or how hes being treated.
Not sure what other companies would take me besides swift, I need to go through company training and Knight is out of the question because I cannot afford to fly/drive to phoenix and pay for food/trans/hotel for 2 and a half weeks. -
Those two statements right there. Your thought, and you don't need. Therefore instead of trying to possibly force a company to bend to your ways, find one that already allows pets. Simple. No hassle. No red tape to fight. And if your going out with a trainer, good luck finding one to let you and a pet on their truck.

Obviously my dog would not being going to training thats just rediculous to assume.
If you have the assumption its so easy what company trains and hires from Boise Idaho. Accepts someone with a speeding ticket from 2013 that equals 3 points on license and has no work history until 2013 then only until 2014. then unemployed, I'm willing to try other places.
work history.
Born 1986, no job until 2013. Work 8months, goto a new company to try to make a career of it but new company sucked so only worked August 2013 until June 2014. Unemployed since then.
I'd go knight but I cant pull the money from thin air to pay for lodging/food/trans for 2.5 weeks in phoenix. -
Call the training companies. Look on the web. Call werner. Crete. England Schneider. Etc etc ad nauseam.

Chinatown waiting on your amazing advice! What do you think?
As far as I can see on Crete and Schneider neither one has cdl school. -
How hireable you are depends an the answer to this question, they will all ask. You are 29 years old and have only worked 8 months in your life, why is that and what have you been doing with your life?

Doing my own thing not working for the man, I do computer repairs at home and I build a computer from parts I source here and there then I sell it. I find people through craigslist and facebook groups who need computers built and I hit them with knowledge and some people actually want value for their money so they listen. We order the parts(they pay for parts) then I build the computer how they wanted it after asking many questions, I charge them $100 flat fee or if its liquid cooled aka custom liquid I charge $200 because its very time consuming to do it right.
I also have a buddy whos family owns a property management company and he calls me when he needs help and pays cash for the help. We fix fences, tear down dry wall and replace it and paint or we patch and paint. Change faucets and toilets etc. Odd jobs, I have not needed a steady income I usually make enough to get by but time flew by and I need a career.
I have a notarized letter from the friend who runs the maintenance department at the property management company stating what I said is true. Good friend, would work for them full time but they just dont have enough work to have two full time people. -
I built a PC from parts I sourced from "broken" pc's over the last couple months. I just built it two weeks ago and sold it for $1000 last week. After buying a nice coat and some new jeans and stuff I have about $400 budget for food/expenses during any training.
I have an intel core i5 system just lacking a new case/power supply and it would be fully liquid cooled but I cant really afford to spend $100 on a quality PSU+$100 on a case right now to get that one ready to sell.
PC's are my joy I love building them but without a degree good luck working at a business doing it! It's more of a side gig especially in Idaho, most people here are ignorant on the subject and they walk into bestbuy buying piece of crap HP's and dells for $600 then wonder why it wont play a video game or do anything in a reasonable time frame.Last edited: Nov 16, 2015
