I was with this company for 8 years. I am not going to demonize this company but I will say that PGT does not respect their own policies. dispatchers will tell you what you wanna hear rather than the truth. But tell me any other company's dispatchers who don't do the same. Most company workers (non drivers) I got along with and believe me when I say I can be a big hand full at times for a dispatcher. If you wanna make money, good money, as a truck driver this is the company. But if you think you are special or you should be treated special this is not the company for you. They have a cookie cutter mentality. There really is no special treatment for drivers at PGT, they probably like it that way.

A buddy of mine is driving for them a few yrs now, and would'nt think of going anywhare else. Never complains about poor treatment, probly because he is a L/O for them and is happy.

I've been looking at PGT for several weeks now and from what I've been able to research on them, they appear to be one of the best. I have had my CDL since 05 but never used it. I had originally planned on using it driving for my ex father in law but things didn't work out with that. Thankfully I have kept my license current all this time. I've been wanting to drive truck my whole life but never had the opportunity because of family issues. Well now my wife is behind me and she is very familiar with the business cuz her dad used to be otr. Does PGT hire people with no experience like myself? And if so, what does the training entail? length? Cost? Location? How are the trainers? I live in north East PA which is a huge transportation hub. I'm about 16 miles off I-81/I-380 split plus about 30 miles north of I80. I'd really like to do otr. I just need to at least be home every other weekend. is this possible with PGT?

Where you live every other weekend would be no problem. That's the requirement for OTR anyway. You WILL have to take a refresher course and start as a student. 25.5% would be your starting wage. Contact the recruiting department and they can be more specific with you.

LOL, if you like being flipped over in the ditch or crushing cars with coils falling off the trailer then yes PGT is one of the best.........do yourself a favor, if you wanna be a skateboarder go with a company that's gonna really teach and stress the importance of safety and securement and provide superior training above all else, at least to start!!

Roehl, Maverick, Schneider.....just to mention a few!!

Reqlly ranger bob...do you experience with Pgt. O wait you were probably one deemed unfit for flatbed. Didn't catch on? If you have worked for Pgt then you can speak of Pgt. If you have never worked for Pgt then sit on the sidelines and keep your mouth closed. Really???? Schneider? Maverick? Rhoel? Pgt is far better than all three of these companies.

I lived right near PGT in Monaca, PA for 30 years......seen way too much over the years both from the terminal, the drivers and Pat Gallagher as well.........I had a chance to go to work for them many times, even right out of CDL school, I decided to pass every time they came knocking. Glad I did!! Doesn't make them bad people but not a company I want to be involved with.

Since you seem unable to converse without resorting to personal attacks I will consider you to be the perfect simple minded company steel hauling drone you are happy to be.........glad you found your place in life...........:biggrin_2559:
