Bigman77, I am starting my CDL training Monday in Butler. (major career change) PGT is on my list to apply to since they are "local" to me. Can you tell me, if I were to get hired on by them, what can I expect as a yearly gross income? How much is health insurance for a family and what is home time like? Can you take the truck or truck and trailer home?

I know they have several different divisions, do they have options for oil and gas vs flatbed vs dedicated? Thanks in advance for your help!

The PGT website says they pay up to 28% of Line Haul Revenue?, as a newbie that means nothing?. How does that breakdown to an actual paycheck for me?.

Pgt pays a percentage of what the load pays. If you are a newbie you will start out at 25%. Meaning if the load pays $1000 you will make $250 on that load. You can make better money on percentage pay than mileage pay. As a company driver I averaged .63 cents a mile on most of my loads. When I was a mileage driver with another company I was at .40 cents a mile.

We do have decent freight in the south. An owner op friend of mine who lives in mobile, al runs pretty much mobile Birmingham talladega New Orleans and houston we get a pretty good amount out of houston to the Valdosta area. Pgt itself does not offer o/o health insurance but they have a discount set up through utba for us

.63 cents is mucho better then most of what I have been reading!.

If I don't live anywhere near their current locations does that mean they will not give me a chance?. If I plan to stay on the road for the majority of the year and just live in the truck so the fact that I am from WA state should not matter right or am I wrong to assume that?.

How long do I need to drive before they would look at hiring me?.

Do they prefer you attend a specific school?.
