Physicals and Mentals????LOL!

    PHYSICAL : Just wondering if I would pass the physical.

    Do you get Xrayed for a DOT physical? Or is that for all company physicals?

    I had disc surgery 4 years ago. I was released back to work with no restrictions. My former employer didn't Xray me or give me a physical. They did request a letter from the surgeon. Disc surgery won't show on an Xray (I think) at least the original injury didn't. They had to do a MRI to find that. L5-S1 You can see the surgical scar.

    I had a compression fracture of T-7 T-8 back in '81. That will show on an Xray. No surgery.

    MENTALS : Do they all give attitude tests?

    Lie detectors? I have heard of that in the past. Never took one for any job.

    Anything else?

    I darn ure don't want to go to school and find out I can't pass the physical stuff.

    I have done heavy lifting since both injuries. I worked for a retailer throwing carpet, ceramic tile, hardwood, lawn mowers, air conditioners etc.

    I never had a physical that included an x-ray, but I haven't had the serious type of injuries you have had to endure.
    Man, if they gave mental evaluations, there would probably be a lot less drivers on the road!

    The same day I got my very first D.O.T. physical, another new driver was there for his as well. He had been in an awful construction accident that injured his back and legs. But, he passed his physical.

    It will ultimately be up to the doctor, as to whether he thinks you are in good enough shape to handle truck driving.

    Good luck in what ever path life leads you down.

    A friend worked for Indian River transport in Florida they did a lie detector test on him. That was the mid 80's.

    never had a physical with an x ray, but you will have to take your shirt off and the doctor will ask you about the scars

    and never had any kind of mental evaluation other then stupid job interviews

    Never had a lie detector test. Usually the person interviewing you is crazier then you are (because they think you actually believe the BS they are telling you.) I have been xrayed twice for a pre-employment physical, but both times it was the company policy, something to do with insurance and workman's comp. But it is not a general rule for xrays. 9/10 times the physical is a joke anyway.
