As an employee and as a lease op with my own truck, I have taken both friends and family and a few people who were in distress, no needless randoms though. There are situations where a guy would rather have been 5 mins up the road, but you weren't. And now you can help.....or keep driving and wonder.
Both under the radar and out in the open, I've never had a problem. It sucks how something that shouldn't be a big deal, is.
Picked up a hitchhiker annnd got randomly inspected.

Back before cell phones, you would often hear someone on the CB asking for a ride to the nearest exit that might have a phone or a shop. I never minded stopping to give a driver in distress a ride. I always figure that what goes around, comes around and I knew if I needed help another truck would stop.

Nowadays, the States is chocked full of weirdos, and irresponsible people and losers who refuse to trip plan. And thieves and con artists and scammers. And remember, if anyone accuses you of anything, a trucker is automatically guilty in the eyes of any jury.jfred2, rookietrucker, AModelCat and 9 others Thank this. -

Everyone thinks the world is more dangerous today than it was in the fifties.
America has never been safer than it is today.
This paranoia is killing us. If you see a chance to do a good deed, you should do it.RedRover, jfred2, TruckChicken and 8 others Thank this. -

The odds of you being a victim of violence have never been lower in the history of humanity than they are right at this very second.
