I pull a refer. I can haul 90% of what dry vans haul. Much more versatile. I can into dead areas you all won't because I can reload temp control products in a lot of those areas. I would say about 35% of my loads are dry.

I pull reefer now but am throwing the idea of picking up a used flat and give that a go. Just don't have the balls to do so yet lol.

    That aspect is good...
But then there's lumpers, grocery warehouses, trailer washouts, appointment times all over the place, slow loading/unloading and did I say lumpers!

Yeah, you book that load, dh that 3000 miles and just before you arrive, the load cancels.

But just think all the great MPGs I got and less wear and tear on the truck vs hauling cheap freight to get me out there. Right @Scott72 ?

While reefer gives you more versatility in what you haul, I have hauled reefer for the last year and will NEVER do it as an O/O-L/O, at least the way the reefer rates/industry is right now. The insignificant difference of rates between dry van/reefer doesn't justify the added expense and BS associated with it, at least with broker/spot market freight.
