With the exception that most of those "pay per mile" companies pay for a lot of expenses that Schneider doesn't pay for. $1.25 a mile & all you pay is truck, insurance, & fuel is about the same as running at Schneider for $1.35- $1.40 a mile. I have a friend running for $1.04 + fsc & we've compared numbers before. Now this time last year it was hard to run for Less than $1.50 a mile. Now it's hard to get that.

If someone does 100,000 a year
    Driver A $1.04 plus FSC = $1.24
    Driver B $1.45 all miles

Driver B would gross an extra $21,000
I highly doubt the little freebees those pay per mile carriers give out comes anywhere close to $20 grand.

$1.50 could be impossible in some areas or easy say in the Northeast. (If someone knows what they're doing of course)
    All depends

Yes, $.21 per mile more money is a big difference. I actually was comparing it to $1.35 a mile which is what I bet most of the choice fleet runs for. Not much of a difference at that point.

$1.50 used to be almost guaranteed in the Midwest. Not now. It's still there but much harder & not as plentiful.

Tags, insurance, registration runs me about $8,000 a year here.
So sure if I ran at $1.35 it wouldnt be much different if the pay per mile carrier if they covered all that.
However when solo I do wayyy better than $1.35, not as much as the Northeast guys tho.
I agree it is harder here now.
However if i could only run for $1.35 solo here i would be outta here!
All the BS wouldnt be worth it at that point.

Yep, I don't plan on being here much longer. My lease is up & I'm turning my truck in this week. I bought an older worn out POS do I could keep the shops busy. I'll take that truck elsewhere, just not sure when I'm making the switch. I've already been approved at the other carrier, just waiting on me.

I'm going flat. Should be able to get home more without taking a big hit on revenue if nothing else. To me van over there is pointless, no drop & hook. That's the only reason to ever pull a van.

Exactly. Biggest expense are plates, and if you run 120k miles, it comes out to a penny/mile.
