If I pull the trigger on a new truck I'm buying through my local dealer. Just interested in what sni is running. I trust sni knows what works best for their bottom end, so was curious what they where doing. I can't own a auto. I just cant. Maybe I should, could be smart, but I can't. I thought SFI was offering 13's in cascadias. Will take @Home_on_wheels advice and crunch some numbers. Sounds right.Home_on_wheels and mxpx148 Thank this.

I was told that all new Freightliners come as autos. If you want a manual it will have to be ordered.
I'm sure there will be a few manuals on dealer lots, but they are going to be harder to find.
Now this was told to me by the safety manager from my last company at the beginning of this year, so I don't know how much truth there is to it. So if all companies are saying their new truck fleets are autos like Schneider is, then there may be truth to it. -
If you look at the specs for the new Cascadia, it lists that dt12 as standard with manuals as options.Cledus Snow Thanks this.

It started before my time, but the American automotive industry has been shoving automatic transmissions down our throats for quite some time. It's to the point where it's not weird if you don't know how to drive a manual (especially my generation..) The transformation is almost complete, even semi trucks are coming with autos by default now!
I was looking into buying a new car a couple months back, and much to my disappointment, the manufacturer discontinued the manual transmission option in the model I was looking at. In fact, many makes no longer offer manuals in ANY of their vehicles. Yes I know paddle shifters are faster, etc. Just is sad for those of us who prefer it.SingingWolf and BoostedTeg Thank this. -
It's not just American vehicles. I had an aston martin vanquish with that paddle shift. Looked into switching it over to a true manual and found out that they didn't even make a clutch operated manual. And this was almost 15 years ago.milehunter43 Thanks this.

Anyone else having fuel card issues lately? Mine keeps getting turned off and now they are saying the entire EFS system is down for unknown reasons.

As far as I know, they've never offered the Casscadia's with a 13spd. Only the KW and maybe the Volvo's, but I believe those had the i-drive.
In fact any Casscadia's with a 13spd is a rare truck. Try searching truck paper for one spec'd like that, there aren't a whole lot.(After I wrote this I actually checked. There's more then I thought, but still not anywhere near as many 10spd's)Last edited: Nov 15, 2016
