Eh...if I know the rules I'm not gonna cry when they want to enforce them. I'm certainly not gonna be happy and I'll be pissed it isn't consistent but it is what it is.

Plenty of other factors why I ultimately left. That alone wouldn't have been enough. I wouldn't have signed in the first place if it was.

What are the problems that I can start to see now is that a lot of these company drivers that are becoming IC is that they're so used to toting the company line so to speak has been told where to go how to get there where to fuel to drive backwards a hundred miles to get a trailer because that's what they're used to being told to do... while Schneider draws a hard Line in the Sand running their business the same should go for an independent contractor that's running their business... Now with that being said yes as long as we run with the confines of what the policies are independent contractors are not required to do anything their contract doesn't State and I think he's independent contractors need to learn to draw a line in the sand it as well and not let others dictate their business operations because if you do you will not be in business very long

T Trucker you should've told them 400.00 to drop the empty or send him somewhere else.

If I'm hooked to an empty waiting for a load the only way they get it is when I drop it at the shipper for my next load.

No time to be sent on a crazy trailer search knowing the company driver just spent all day looking for an empty with no luck.

Glad it worked out for you.

And a side note from 1500 til 1000 isn't no longer 24 hrs so I'd of fought that.....lol

Not saying I wouldn't have tried my hardest either. But they could have easily used his 0700 off duty time to enforce the rules.

One way to get around it is to go on duty st some point whether to fuel or drive around the block...or something stupid. Sometimes you have to play games right back.

I think one of the problems is there having some of these dbl's come over from the company side to BE ICR OR ICA and still have that mentality that they're going to tell these IC's like they would a company driver...

My ICA cane from the DBL side. He tried pulling that crap with me from time to time so unfortunately we clashed a lot. And I'm not really that hard to get along with...honestly...I just won't be pushed into things when I know I'm right.

Like the one time he insisted I had to drag an empty out of a receiver because another customer needed it. I was going home, it was headed 20 miles the wrong way and all they were gonna give me was the $25 drop fee. The conversation wasn't pleasant but I won.

My ICR has advised me to just keep the trailer with me when I'm at home to because he said it saves all the hassle having to try to get a trailer coming out of the house

That's pretty sweet. Move would never allow that.

I tried as often as possible to set up my load home as a drop...as I did in this case as well.

Luckily I had accounts near me I could bobtail into coming out of the house and at the very least finding an empty usually wasn't an issue.
