I just delivered a D+H at giant eagle, and just walking through the warehouse to get my bills signed gave me shivers.
I hauled reefer for many years, never again. I plan for this to be my last driving job, but if for some reason I continue after my lease, I would definitely follow what @Hegemeister has done and get a step.Hegemeister, freightwipper and mxpx148 Thank this. -
So yes it is a contract.

Then there was the insurance portion. The OSR doing Schneiders orientation was just going to let us sign off on comprehensive/collision insurance. Most of the people in orientation didn't want to pay $100 a week. Being that I've worked in the insurance industry before I asked how can they let us decline collision coverage if we're signing a lease on an expensive piece of equipment. After I made a big stink about it I convinced everyone in orientation that they basically had to have that coverage. Then the OSR rolled his eyes and basically said we were putting him behind schedule. I have to say Charlotte overall was an extremely unprofessional bunch.Home_on_wheels, Hegemeister, milehunter43 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Well, I readily admit that I am in full "Don't Give Much Of A Crap" mode. I've got several family events in June, a few minor financial goals for the year, and am generally keeping it as simple and hassle-free as possible. I just can't wait to exit the industry.

I stand corrected...
And not ashamed to admit it...

Bahhhahahahaha! Love the Giant Eagle remark!
Thing is I have some reefer experience and I've seen some of these reefer rates... Holy Sheet!
No experience in flatbed and to be honest I'd probably be too nervous worrying something might fall off the trailer lol. The rates are appealing in flatbed too but again no experience, don't think that would be a smart move for me. Plus tarps suck from what what I hear.
I'd rather deal with lazy lumpers than frozen tarps.
I hated reefer when I did it and I surely love the open window drop and hook loads here but not when freight is cheap.
Money use to be real easy here, go back to my posts from the beginning on forward and anyone will see that and how it's gone downhill.SingingWolf, Cledus Snow and 48Packard Thank this. -
