There are several. Just of the top of my head the good ones that jump out at me are Landstar, bennett, admiral merchant, mercer, ats, sammons. The key is to get into a segment that is less populated. Dry van is always gonna be hard to make a buck at, but if a guy insists on doing dry van then he has to specialize as much as dry van allows. Hazmat, lift gate, moving blankets, d rings in the floor for securement, vents for produce and live plants, heat for keep from freezing loads, logistics posts, e track. Security clearance for DOD. Etc etc. Basically you gotta be pulling something that requires more than toilet paper and cheerios. The golden rule of business, the more people that can/are willing to do something the less it will pay. A customer is just not gonna pay a great rate on canned food and toilet paper.

been thinking / shopping for my own trailer......also thinking about getting my own numbers but it seems much to complicated. The thing about Schneider is that they do it all for you......makes it hard to bail

Since they are keeping the majority of the holdings private then they don't have to answer to anyone but themselves (In theory). The way it seems is that they are going to give people the "privilege of having a stake in an old family owned company" The caveat is that the family is still going to have the controlling interest inthe company and therefore "what they say goes".
