It's not that complicated. But unless you score a few direct customers your net income won't dramatically change. People tend to forget that like us, a broker wants to make add much add he can. You better be ###### good at negotiating if you expect him to pay top dollar. In effect what happens to most guys that their only business experience is being leased to a carrier, they go out and get their own numbers and instead of a carrier keeping 25% they are pulling for a broker for 75% of what the customer is paying. 100% of 75 bucks isn't anymore money than 75% of 100 bucks.

Are you not a fan of the Choice board? What happened? I am thinking of signing on and running there. Did the rates drop? Headaches? What headaches? I thought IC Choice was basically all in your own control... besides the occasianal mishap with the customers not being ready... Value the opinion... thanks.

You've been coming in here for months with your "I don't know how you guys can run for that" comments. Just feels like you take every opportunity to pile on. Why? Then you take a shot at me because you're some expert on having an authority, yet you don't even have yours anymore. I never said finding customers was easy. What I said was once you develop relationships, you shouldn't have to rely on the boards as much.

I was just looking a friend of mines computer that runs for schneider... i saw a bunch of loads going 400-600 miles all over 1.50 per mile. loads were coming out of CHicago area, St Louis, Louisville... and.. shoot i for got the other city i looked up... oh ye Canton OH.... all 75mi radius... Is that not good rates if your CPM is around $1.20

I am genuinely looking for how its as bad as you guys are saying.

I do see those low paying loads of .75-1.00 per mile... but there are other more paying loads out there. At least in all the areas id be running. Shoulda checked what loads pay running into MN or ND/SD

What do you consider a bad rate? I know there used to be a lot of 2-3 dollar a mile loads but still make money at 1.50 right? I mean what lanes are you looking at? what region are you in that the pay rate is so low. Im honestly looking for answers... i was all fired up about the choiceboard but now that i found out SNI is going public thats a big red flag for me... but i still do see some good paying loads... and by good i mean profitable.

Also i would think repo lots are full because a lot of new drivers come in and try to be lazy and home all the time... with all the millennials trying to come into trucking with there lazy attitudes...

It's the volume of good paying loads and the amount of drivers on Choice trying to grab them...did you notice whether the loads you saw were verified or not? If not, and they are on the board unverified for any extended amount of time, guaranteed that when verified they will last .001 seconds before someone snags them up, or others using freightpicker have them selected and get snagged in milliseconds automatically. There still is money to be made, but the pickings have been getting slimmer, and this is over the 4 1/2 months since I've been here. The veterans here have seen it sink even further than I have.

Also SNI changes the rules and add more regulations at every turn. It was only about a year ago that they implemented rules only allowing EPA2010 and newer equipment be leased on...the new word through the grapevine is that all new equipment to be leased on also needs some form of collision avoidance system installed...waiting to see if they start specifying only certain colors are allowed on the program
