Cletus' problem, and the problem FW had with his engine is the viriable that can not be accurately estimated into cost per mile for someone new to trucking. Even a new truck may stay in the shop weeks or months over a years time, putting a person out of business. Then you have the hero drivers that take the front end off your truck at a truck stop or dock, putting you oos for maybe months at a time also.

These are things I never see want to be ICs and OOs put into their plans. These type of repairs are above and beyond normal maintenance.

Much like trucking, there isn't much interest in the technician field anymore. These schools you see advertise nationally are full but I would be willing to bet less than 25% graduate with any skill. Last place I worked we had a kid that spent $40,000 @ UTI and came in with a bunch of Freightliner certifications and he couldn't do anything right sadly. I tried to mentor him but he lied to me and was very stubborn so I washed my hands of him. He was eventually fired, went to a Bobcat dealer and lost that job too. Most places see so much turnover that they don't provide adequate training or even have an apprenticeship program in place to bring the new guys along at a slower, relaxed pace. Not to mention that technology is evolving far faster than training can be provided at this point.

14 weeks in the shop the 1st 16 months I've had my truck.

Lost revenue, relay fees travel expenses.

Weekly payments to Sfi and sni were still due though.

It's not easy being sleazy but this industry as a whole has perfected it.

I have over 100k so it goes to the extended warranty. The clutch switches were covered, but the batteries weren't. I tried to explain I first brought it in before 100k miles and it wasn't fixed, but it didn't matter, still had to pay.
