Yeah if someone is patient enough Cali to the other side of the country loads do pop up but not often.
I've seen $1.40-$1.75... it's rare but it does happen.
Getting into Cali is always for peanuts though.
If you do a country wide search for lowest paying loads most all of them go to Cali.

I'm currently on a 780 mile load to Kansas city, I don't think I've done a load this long since my first week here.
Heck it must have been months since I did a load over 400 miles.
I forgot what it feels like to not deal with 2-7 shippers/receivers in a day lol. -
The rates in California are ridiculous this week..what I mean by ridiculous is I'm seeing a whole bunch of $1.75 a mile just $3 a mile Loads
-
Saw a load from PA to UT for $1.59 all miles this week...

Yeah but once you get to UT how do you get back east? lol
I believe I remember you Sadwar saying you're gonna head out west one time this year, are you still gonna do it? -
Which is exactly why I didn't pick the load. Was just surprised to see it.
Doubtful this year, too much shizit going on around the house. I'll be going as far west as Green Bay on Sept 2nd to pick up the new ride though...
