What, you wouldn't go into business if you could profit 4 cents out of every dollar? :)

If I had 4 billion dollars, sure.

The real question is if SFI is included in these numbers. Remember that SNI doesn't own the tractors, they're leased from SFI. If those tractor payments are counted as an expense you can probably double the real net.

At a minimum. I'm curious what they "lease" the trucks for.

I was told by a freightliner sales person that the big fleets have a trade in price set in stone when they sign the deal for a large group of trucks.....

    Must be nice

I'm not really surprised by the 3% profit number....a banker friend told me most businesses operate in the 2%-4% margin, of course this after the accountants massage everything to limit tax liability. That said, it's a darn shame we have companies forced into this game due to our incredibly complex tax code....but that's another topic.

From what I can find the 4 Billion is Sni only doesn't include Logistics or Finance nor Warehousing.

Also Schneider logs about 800 Million miles a year.

About 5 Dollar a mile average.

    Seems odd!

There are tax advantages by doing the accounting that way.

There's also liability protection. If SNI is sued there is a limited amount of assets that the plaintiff can have seized. If you read the "get rich with real estate " books a lot will recommend keeping the properties mortgaged to the hilt so that if there's a major judgement you just declare bankruptcy and walk away.

Hmmm $5 a mile X 65% is about what those choice loads pay ....

I'm certainly aware of why they do it, I'd do it exactly the same way. Lol
